Koy Stoxen, RSA High school Freshman to perform at Carnegie Hall
Koy Stoxen, RSA High school Freshman, will be traveling to NYC to join the Honors Performance Series Choir and perform at Carnegie Hall. Koy was among students from around the country selected to participate after being nominated last year as an outstanding choir student. Two other RSA alumni, Daphne Read and Stella Villalobos, were also nominated and accepted into this program, and will perform in June.
Accouschicks and Voxicity vocal jazz choirs
The vocal jazz choirs are gearing up for a competition! Students in the newly founded vocal ensembles (minted as The Accouschicks and Voxicity) will travel to Aptos, California in March to compete at the Santa Cruz Jazz Festival. They will be judged on their performance, participate in a vocal clinic with an adjudicator, and attend a concert of festival participants and professional musicians. Be sure to wish them all the best, and be on the lookout for upcoming performances!
Art work for California SISC 2026 Symposium Art Exhibit!
Art: Congratulations to our High School students Juniper Fleming and Kaylee Oakes. They have earned spots in the California SISC 2026 Symposium Art Exhibit! Their artwork was selected for this prestigious statewide exhibition, recognizing outstanding creativity, skill, and artistic voice among high school students across California. Being chosen for the California SISC Symposium Exhibit is a significant accomplishment, and we are incredibly proud of Juniper and Kaylee for representing our school at the state level.
WASC Visit pg1
WASC Accreditation Visit (Click on Spotlights above left)
September ended with an important milestone—our WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) accreditation visit. The visiting team spent several days reviewing our programs, processes, and implementation of our Mission, Vision, and Student Learning Objectives.
A very special thank you goes to Melyndee Dewey, our WASC chair, for her countless hours of preparation, coordination of focus groups, and leadership in drafting RSA’s self-study report. The Visiting Team Chair noted it was the best report he had ever read in his 50+ school reviews—a recognition we are extremely proud of!
We also thank the many parents and students who participated in focus groups last year and this fall. Your input was invaluable and your dedication shone through. The WASC team’s feedback reflected what makes RSA so special, including:
• Clear Vision and Mission: A collaboratively developed K–12 vision that is well-communicated and lived out daily.
• Strong Sense of Community: Both staff and students embody a familial connection to the school.
• Collaborative Leadership: Decision-making is shared across leadership, staff, parents, and committees.
• Governance Alignment: Goals are aligned with Governing Board policies and the LCAP, with a strong focus on student achievement.
• Supportive Climate & Facilities: Students and staff feel safe and supported, with well-equipped facilities and robust technology.
For those who would like a deeper dive into our visit summary, you can view the full WASC Visiting Committee presentation on the RSA website.
