CTE DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY PATHWAY
This CTE digital photography course pathway guides students from foundational camera skills to advanced photographic techniques, using DSLR cameras and editing software like Adobe and Procreate. Through hands-on photoshoots and exploration of genres such as portrait, commercial, documentary, and fine art, students learn to capture compelling images that communicate ideas and emotion. The pathway culminates in a capstone project and professional portfolio, preparing students for creative careers or further study in photography.
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY I [Concentrator Course]
Grades: 9-12
Prerequisite: Foundations in Art
In this course students will learn how a camera works and the fundamentals of how to use DSLR (digital single lens reflex) cameras. Students will artistically capture environments and subjects using principles of exposure: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Students will take part and lead their own photoshoots on and off campus as they study different types of photography- commercial, portrait, landscape, documentary, editorial, fine art, and more. Students will learn how to edit images in Adobe and Procreate preparing students for portfolio creation.
ADVANCED DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY [Capstone Course]
Grades: 11-12
Prerequisite: Foundations in Art, Digital Photography I
This course explores advanced photographic principles and concepts introduced in Digital Photography 1. Students will continue to create, manipulate, and analyze photographs creating work that artistically expresses feelings and communicates ideas. Students will deepen their familiarity with current industry practices and work alongside industry professionals. Instruction includes advanced digital camera function, advanced exposure control, advanced technical and creative control, and advanced computer editing of images. The course culminates in a capstone project and portfolio.
