RSA Independent Study

Mission

The mission of Redding School of the Arts Long-term Independent Study is to educate K-12th grade students who have an interest in visual and performing arts.  The goal is to cultivate their knowledge and skills for the betterment of their local and global community.  We strive to support the unique learning styles and interests of the independent study student and encourage the parent in their role as the primary educator.

RSA Independent Study for K-8 Grades

K-8th grade students are given a teacher of record who supports the student and family in academic instruction.  Students are primarily taught by parents using curriculum supplied by the school. Various methods are used, including paper/ pencil and computer based.  Students who are vaccinated for school may attend the ½ day Friday enrichment sessions which are geared toward social emotional learning and peer interaction.

RSA Independent Study for High School

High School students complete the RSA High School graduation requirements through a combination of on-site UC approved A-G courses, online UC approved A-G courses, and/or concurrently enrolled Shasta College courses. All HS students are assigned a teacher of record who will work with the student and family to create a custom hybrid learning agreement that will be updated each semester. Courses offered to students in grades 9-12 are listed and described in the RSA High School Course Catalog. Due to mandatory on-site course participation, all high school students must have been fully immunized and present the appropriate health examination record in accordance with the California Health and Safety Code.
