Mission

The mission of Redding School of the Arts Homeschool (Independent Study) is to educate TK-8th grade students who have an interest in visual and performing arts and cultivate their knowledge and skills for the betterment of their local and global community. We strive to support the unique learning styles and interests of the homeschool student and encourage the parent in their role as educator.

RSA offers a Parent-Led, Teacher-Supported Homeschool Model.  This model preserves the traditional homeschool structure but adds expert guidance to help parents succeed in teaching, curriculum planning, and managing behavior. RSA does not offer a hybrid model.

Parent-Led, Teacher-Supported Homeschooling

  1. Parents as Primary Educators
    • Parents lead day-to-day instruction.
    • Educational decisions are guided by family values and goals with teacher input to help students meet state standards.

  2. Credentialed Teacher Support
    • Regular on-going consultation with a certified teacher for:
      • Curriculum planning
      • Lesson pacing and differentiation
      • Instructional strategies
      • Behavioral support and management techniques

  3. Curriculum Guidance
    • Credentialed teachers help select or customize a curriculum based on:
      • State standards
      • Student learning styles and needs
      • Parental input

  4. Behavior and Management Coaching
    • Teachers coach parents on:
      • Setting routines and expectations
      • Handling resistance or learning difficulties
      • Positive discipline and reinforcement methods

  5. Assessment and Progress Monitoring
    • Teachers may:
      • Help interpret or design assessments
      • Offer tutoring sessions 
      • Offer benchmark assessments or progress check-ins
