Mrs. Taylor 2025-26
My name is Melissa Taylor, and I’m so excited to welcome you and your child to our 4th/5th grade class! I’m a multiple subject credentialed teacher with a background in early childhood and elementary education. I’ve previously taught Kindergarten and 2nd grade, and began my journey in education as a paraprofessional working with TK-5th grade students back in 2017.
In our classroom, I strive to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where every student can grow. I use a combination of Love and Logic and PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) to help students build responsibility, problem-solving skills, and confidence while supporting a positive classroom culture. My reading program is grounded in the Science of Reading and emphasizes the five pillars: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. In math, we’ll be diving into high-level 5th grade content, encouraging students to think deeply and challenge themselves.
I stay curious and committed to understanding your child’s unique strengths, interests, and learning needs. Building strong relationships with students and their families is a priority for me, and I look forward to working closely with you to support your child’s academic and personal growth.
Outside the classroom, I’m a proud mom of four kids (ages 6, 10, 16, and 17). I’m also passionate about animal rescue—especially cats!—raising chickens, and spending time in my garden.
Thank you for entrusting me with your child’s learning journey this year. I can’t wait to see all the growth, discovery, and joy this school year will bring.
Warmly,
Melissa Taylor
