About NWEA testing: Your child will take a MAP® Growth™ test from NWEA® on a chromebook. MAP Growth scores help teachers check student performance by measuring achievement and growth.
How the NWEA test works: MAP Growth tests are unique, and it adapts to your child’s responses to measure your child’s skill level. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. These results will provide a more complete picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn—whether it is on, above, or below their grade level.
Getting ready for NWEA testing: Your student will be tested in both reading and math. Visit the NWEA Student Resources site to help your student become familiar with the platform and learn what to expect.
Taking the NWEA test: Unless alternative plans have been made, we are testing off site at the Shasta County Office of Education building at 2985 Innsbruck Dr. (Near Rare Air). Students should bring headphones (with a small jack), water bottle and a snack. Testing for 4th -8th graders should take approximately 1 -1 1/2 hours for reading and the same for math. Younger students (K-3) will take less time.
