To make this event happen, we’re in need of parent volunteers to help with a variety of tasks, such as setup, supervision, refreshments, and cleanup. Volunteer Opportunities
Parent/guardian participation is essential to the success of Redding School of the Arts because children learn more when their parent/guardian is involved in their education. Volunteering is not a requirement for acceptance to, or continued enrollment at Redding School of the Arts. Parents/guardians are encouraged to support the work of the school by volunteering 40 hours per household per year.
RSA collects volunteer data to report to the CA State Dept. of Education and our Authorizer regarding parent participation and involvement per the charter, LCAP and Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). Families are encouraged to record their volunteer hours using a program called “Track it Forward.” RSA families log into: http://www.trackitforward.com to log their hours. Hours are calculated by Household; volunteer hours can be accumulated by adult family members or their designee. The suggested timeline for submitting of volunteer logs is 20 hours by winter break, 30 hours by March 1st, and 40 hours by May 30th. Ways to Volunteer
There are many different ways in which volunteer hours can be completed including on site and from home. Some suggestions include:
- Contact your student’s teacher to inquire about volunteer opportunities in the classroom.
- Join a committee such as Theater Booster Club or Parent Teacher Committee (these committees may be able to provide some volunteer activities from home). Links to these committees can be found here.
- Email the school secretary [email protected] regarding your availability to volunteer on site. Regular opportunities arise throughout the year that require parent volunteers such as picture day and hearing/vision screening.
- Watch for email and ParentSquare news blasts requesting donations for snack cart, fundraiser meals, or other social events. Thirty homemade items earn one hour and thirty store purchased items earn half hour.
- Email the school’s Library Information Specialist to inquire about volunteer opportunities in the library at [email protected].

Moon Festival Volunteers
Dear RSA families,
The annual Moon Festival celebration is coming soon! On Friday, September 20th, RSA families will get together to celebrate the second-most important holiday in Chinese culture and some other Asian cultures.
Students will start the night with a sing-along performance on the playground. There will be some Asian food stands, game stations, and moon viewing stations.
We need parent volunteers to set up the stations, sell glow sticks, moon cakes, and other traditional Chinese food, move musical instruments, and clean up at the end. Please click here to sign up for volunteering.

Wizard of Oz / Redding Christmas Parade
Help us Build our Wizard of Oz Float for the Redding Christmas Parade!
We are in search of a chairperson and other volunteers for RSA's parade float at the Redding Lighted Christmas Parade! This is an excellent, fun way to gain volunteer hours. These hours can be fulfilled at home and don't require you to volunteer during school hours, so this is a great project for busy parents.
The chairperson's job would be to organize the float volunteers and keep the float construction on a timeline so that it's ready by the parade date (Dec. 7). Without a chairperson, we won't be able to be in the parade this year! We also need other volunteers to simply help with construction and decoration of this year's "Wizard of Oz" float.
The parade float has already been designed and many of the materials are already provided. Other materials are reimbursable.

The pick-up area will be at the amphitheater near the office. Limited items will be available.
